I recently had the opportunity to be interviewed by Garrett Bauman of Maple Leafs Hot Stove to talk about hockey culture, social media, and the Leafs among other things. Don’t let the neat and tidy appearance of this interview fool you! I often went off on long tangents and rants as is more than characteristic of me when I talk hockey with anyone. The social media topic was one of great interest to me. I’ve noticed that certain NHL player(s) appear to have joined Twitter almost as a way to rub the noses of their “fans” in their superficial personal lives. Hopefully, this is just a case of not knowing how to properly harness this tool, because it would be very sad if this is the kind of respect they give the “fans” after they have spent time and money (they can’t get back) supporting them through scoreless streaks, and numerous trades and injuries.
